despite chaning the preferences, when i export an obj from a pnm I get the out of memory error with the original value of 505 mb.

Did you restart ImageJ for the new settings to take effect?

You can also click the status bar to check how much memory is available.

Same problem here.

Options/Memory says 14GB is the limit.
ImageJ.cfg says 14GB is the limit.

But program stops because it ran out of memory after 505MB.

Completely out of ideas. :/

Does clicking on the ImageJ status bar also report the correct limit? You might have to resize the main window to be wider, in order to see the entire message. But it should be something like:

(Fiji Is Just) ImageJ 2.0.0-rc-30/1.49s; Java 1.6.0_24 [64-bit]; 11MB of 4223MB (<1%).

If Java really has 14GB to work with, it should say something like "of 13983MB" at the end.

Is that the case for you?
