Description Silke 2009-05-28 14:16:19 CDT
When I want to save a movie as AVI, there is the possibility to define the "Jpeg Quality", which is supposed to be the amount of compression. Quite confusing, since in a normal users view "Quality" doesn't equal "compression", so one doesn't quite know what to do with it. Also, one can change the value of compression even when wanting to save it uncompressed, which doesn't make sense.

Proposed solution: change the name of the feature, from "quality" into something more obvious. Plus, for the uncompressed saving option, have it greyed out.

Cheers,
Silke

1. I do not think there is something more obvious, because the same term 'JPEG Quality' is used elsewhere (e.g. Edit>Options>Input/Output).
This setting is image quality based on the amount of compression, so I would suggest to leave as it is. Note that other programs that encode JPEGs also use the term 'quality' (for instance the GIMP).

2. If you are not using JPEG format the setting is, obviously, ignored. But to address your point, the modal generic dialog that is used in this plugin does not support greying options interactively as other options get changed. So what you want cannot be easily done.

These are not "bugs", they do not break any functionality and are more wishlist items, so I am setting the resolution to WONTFIX, please feel free to change that back if required.
