ScreenShot of FiJi menubar

You might be aware but, just in case, I wanted to inform that ImageJ & Fiji do not work well in OS X Mavericks (latest developer preview). The menu bar only displays the Fiji menu which does not work making impossible to quit the application excel from the dock. No other menu is available making the software impossible to use.

Thanks for pointing us to this issue.

There are a couple of problems, though:

- Mavericks is not final, so it is considered to have bugs. I would consider the issue you described a bug in Mavericks, not in Fiji.

- Mavericks is a developer preview that requires you to pay $$$ to Apple, so you are basically asking us to spend not only time but also money on trying to fix an issue that might be fixed in the final Apple product.

- We would have to set aside a complete developer machine to test Mavericks (because it is a developer preview, it would be insane to perform regular development on it). My preferred alternative -- using a virtual machine -- will not work, as Apple took precautions to prevent that (even if you are running on Mac hardware!): Java 7 now requires OpenGL for its UI, AFAICT Mavericks disabled Java 6 and only supports Java 7, and no virtualization software I have access to supports OpenGL in a virtual MacOSX client.

Therefore, this bug faces us with serious challenges.

I would like to encourage you to

1) file a bug with Apple (because the problem does not occur with MacOSX 8, as far as I can tell, but with MacOSX 9).

2) research whether you can find information in their release notes or elsewhere in the Apple Developer Connection about the menu bar problem.

3) If everything else fails, I could set aside some time to debug this issue *iff* I can get access via remote desktop to a Mavericks machine (that means your machine, most likely).
