Loading a single image as a Surface plot 2D does not do anything.
I wonder if a single image should be loaded as in Kai Barthel's "Interactive 2D surface plot"?
Just for testing, I duplicated the single image and made a stack of 2 (of the same) and this loads what I expected it would be the case with a single image (in glorious spectrum LUT).

I had a quick stab at fixing this; if you have time, would be nice if you could try it. For now, it is only in fiji.git (not uploaded).
