Observed this today with a freshly updated Fiji during Align multi-layer mosaic.
During alignment, layer-graphs are pre-aligned which is done with flatImages.
Each single mipmap is regenerated for no reason, visible in the Display.  For larger projects that is totally prohibitive.

I can't reproduce. Do you have a small test case that always triggers it?
