Description Andrew Vaughan 2010-10-11 17:49:37 CDT
I'm running Mac OS X 10.6.4. Java version 1.6.0_20 from Apple. I updated Fiji today and since then I've been unable to launch it. Clicking the icon makes it jump once then do nothing. This seemed similar to an earlier updater problem with a fix, so I tried both the java tool and manual fix to no effect. Tried fixing the permissions on my machine to no effect. Re-installed Fiji, and this worked initially, but the first update I did reintroduced the problem. I now cannot open Fiji.

Same for me, running MacOS 10.5.8
I updated in the morning, everything worked still fine. After another update this afternoon, Fiji doesn't start any more.

Downloading Fiji again (fiji-macosx-20100614.dmg) and running the updater twice solved the issue for me.

Cheers,
Jan

I tried Jan Eglinger's suggestion and ran the updater twice and this worked for me also. It looks like a crucial update to the updater was being missed.

Thank you for the bug report. The error should be fixed now, but in the meantime, there is a webpage to describe how to fix things (note that if you downloaded a MacOSX_Updater_Fix.jar earlier, you need to re-download Updater_Fix.jar): http://pacific.mpi-cbg.de/Fix_non-functional_Fiji_after_Update

Once you can run Fiji again, please use the Fiji updater to update fiji-macosx and fiji-tiger (or whatever fiji-* is appropriate for your platform).
