Description gudrun viktorin 2011-05-04 20:51:04 CDT 
error message that not enough memory is available for opening a .lif stack from a Leica SP5; this happens when I had several .lif stacks open at the same time, closed them, and try to open the next stack. When I work with my stacks one by one, all is well. file size about 400 MB, 2 GB RAM

I am afraid that this is not enough information to reproduce. It sounds like a so-called memory leak, where some part of the program holds on to a reference to the no-longer shown image. Without a precise recipe -- preferably a macro -- it will be almost impossible to identify the relevant code.

Exception after trying to open file a third time, now successfully

Hi, while trying to reproduce the bug I found that the error message is really a warning message, and if I click ok, the file opens just fine. I can live with this. 

Anyway, attached are the recorded macro, the exeption file that popped up after the file opening, and what I did while recording it:

- chose three files with a total size larger than assigned memory (1532MB, default I think)
- started fiji
-opened two of the files one by one by drag and drop
- closed them both (which created the two macro entries)
- tried to open the third file by drag and drop
- got the error message that there would not be enough memory, and whether I wanted to open it anyway
- clicked cancel

- tried to open the third file by drag and drop again
- got error message again
- clicked ok

- tried to open the third file by drag and drop a third time
- third file opened twice without a third warning message.

I am glad that you managed to work around the issue; I was never able to reproduce the behavior here :-(
