live filter works as expected except:

when the canvas has only patches of e.g. 32bit type, then LUTs of the images are ignored and replaced by a gray default LUT and composite modes other than `normal' lead to non-trivial to explain pixel salad.  Looks like an intended special case that, serving an unknown purpose, does not check the correct conditions.

This error is worth fixing but has extremely low priority.
