The option overlay>flatten from an rgb '3d project' stack produces a single 3d stack that simply combines the rgb channels to rotate in 3d but does not allow flattening into a single image.  when command overlay>flatten is requested again a message of 'an overlay is required' is shown.  A flattened image from a 3d rgb stack is not made.

attached is a sample rgb z-stack, after opening use command - image>stacks>3d project, step size is 0.65
