Whilst trying to run the SurfCharJ plug-in, an error message "Undefined variable in line 2" popped up. Can someone help me with this, please?

It sounds like there is a bug in the source code of the plug-in. Although it looks like the source is freely available (http://www.gcsca.net/IJ/SurfCharJ.html) we wouldn't have any way to update/contribute to it.

So I would recommend e-mailing the plug-in's developers: gch@gcsca.net

SurfCharJ is not part of the Fiji distribution, nor any official update site as far as I know. So as Mark says, you'll have to contact the author for help. Or better: write to the ImageJ mailing list: http://imagej.net/list.html
